Hard to Find, But Interesting!

Not handicap accessible

It may have just been the weather, but the gardens looked very parched. I arrived with a stroller, only to find out you have to walk down approximately 6 steps to get into the garden. It is not handicap accessible! Perhaps if I had a guided tour I would have enjoyed it more. It was underwhelming.

Hidden in Plain Sight

It was pleasant to walk through and see a variety of plants and shrubs that don't necessarily grow in my zone. The two women who maintain the gardens were interesting to chat with and it was an opportunity to learn about the gardens and how they use them in the magazine.

Hidden Gardens

The BH&G Gardens are truly beautiful. You can catch a glimpse from the sidewalks or plan a visit around the open dates they offer.
BH&G use the gardens as test plots and to provide a place of escape for their employees. While not Butchart Gardens they are worth a trip to enjoy the country in the middle of the city.

Worth a Visit

My husband & I enjoyed a stroll through the gardens. Master gardeners were available to answer questions. Learned a few things while enjoying the beautiful gardens. Make sure to check the schedule for hours of operation.

Well worth the stop

I love to garden, and this is a wonderful place to stop and spend some time. Combine this trip with a stop at a unique and local restaurant for a special outing.
Make sure to check the open hours and days-closed to the public most of the time. Well worth the trip, though.

Gardeners will love walking though the gardens. Plants are grown here that may not be found in most home gardens The designs are interesting. Lots of ideas to be gained for home gardens.

We circled the area 3 times and were not able to find parking nearby.I was told after the fact that test garden is only open certain times.

Oasis in middle of city

We made a carefully timed stop here(only open noon to 2pm on Fridays thru Sept) and were very pleased with the thought craftsmanship and skill to make the beautiful displays of flowers,shrubs, small trees, and some vegetables all with very good pathways between. It is staffed by knowledgeable and helpful people ready to answer any and all questions. Fine place to go for anyone who likes flowers or gardening.

Hard to Find, But Interesting!

We timed our road trip to stop here on their tour day of Friday afternoon 12-2 p.m. First, the location address is for the building across the street. We used up 15 minutes trying to find the garden. Second, while I saw guides, they did not interact with us as some people were completely hogging their attention. Third, bring your lunch or drink to hang out afterwards. Those were the things I wish I would've known. Don't make a special trip, but if you are in the area, check it out!
